Creating Your First Event
Step-by-step instructions for creating your first ticketed event from the Box office, from opening the create form to publishing.
Creating an event in Admittee takes just a few clicks: open the Box office, fill in a short form, and you're on the event's setup page where you add tickets and publish. This guide walks you through your first ticketed event.
Start a new event
- In the left sidebar of your dashboard, click Box office.
- Click the New event button in the top-right corner of the page.
- From the menu that appears, choose Ticketed event. (You'll also see Event pass, Membership, and Import here — those are covered in other guides.)
A Ticketed event form opens.
Fill in the basics
The form asks for a few details:
- Title — optional. If you leave it blank, Admittee auto-generates a title for you based on the category, opponent, and other details you choose (the field even says Leave blank to auto-generate).
- Facility — optional. Where the event takes place, such as your main gym or auditorium.
- Category — required. Pick the kind of event, for example Baseball, Basketball, Football, Performing Arts, School Dance, or Other. You can also add your own category from this list.
- Date, Start time, and End time — pre-filled with tomorrow's date and a 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM time slot, so just adjust them to match your event.
The Create button stays grayed out until you've picked a category, so if you can't click it yet, that's the field to check.
Add game details (sports events)
If you choose a sport category, the form expands with a few extra fields:
- Opponent — the visiting team or school.
- Level — for example Varsity, Junior Varsity, or Freshman.
- Gender — Boys, Girls, or Coed.
- Away game — check this box if your team is playing at the other school.
These details feed into the auto-generated title, so filling them in gives your event a clear, consistent name without any typing.
Create the event and finish setup
Click Create. Admittee opens the event's full setup page, where you can:
- Refine the title, category, facility, and description under Event details.
- Adjust the schedule under Date & time.
- Add Ticket types with a label and price for each (for example, General and Student).
- Optionally add forms, sponsors, promo codes, or a linked fundraiser.
Your new event starts out unpublished. When everything looks right, use Save to keep your changes and Publish to make the event available to ticket buyers.
