Tips for Boosting Donations

The most effective way to boost donations is to remove friction and give donors a reason to act: set a clear goal, offer preset amounts, recognize supporters publicly on the donor wall, let donors cover the processing fee, share the link widely, and thank everyone who gives. Every one of these is something you can turn on while setting up or editing the fundraiser.

Set a clear, visible goal

When editing a fundraiser, turn on Set a fundraising goal and enter a target amount. The goal appears on the public page as a progress bar ("$3,500 raised of $10,000 goal"), which creates urgency and a sense of shared momentum. A goal is optional, but a visible target consistently outperforms an open-ended ask. Raise the goal later if you blow past it; a fresh, slightly higher target re-energizes a campaign.

Offer preset amounts

Fundraisers come with preset donation buttons, and you can customize those amounts when editing. Presets make giving a one-tap decision instead of a blank field, and they gently anchor donors toward a typical gift size. Keep a custom-amount option available (it's built in) so donors who want to give more or less always can.

Turn on the donor wall

Enable Donor wall to acknowledge supporters. Donors can add their name as they give, and it appears in a "Thank you to our supporters!" list at the bottom of the page. Public recognition thanks your existing donors and shows new visitors that the community is behind you. Donors who prefer to stay anonymous can, and their gifts are simply left off the wall.

Let donors cover the fee

Give donors the option to cover the processing fee at checkout. Many are glad to add a little so that more of their gift reaches your program, which increases your net without asking anyone to give more.

Share the landing page widely

The single biggest lever is reach. Share the fundraiser's public link through email, text, social media, your website, and event announcements, and ask coaches, staff, and current donors to forward it. See Promoting Your Fundraisers for channel-by-channel tips.

Thank every donor

Donors automatically receive a confirmation email after they give, and supporters who opt in are recognized on the donor wall. A prompt, genuine thank-you turns a one-time gift into a repeat one, so follow up personally when you can, especially with larger donors.
