Selling Concessions
Yes, you can sell concessions and merchandise with Admittee. Set up your items ahead of time, then sell them at the gate from the EventDay App by ringing up saved items or charging a custom amount, and take payment with a connected card reader or Tap to Pay. Every sale is recorded and shows up in your event's stats.
How do you set up concession items?
You build a list of items so staff can tap to sell them instead of typing a price each time. Each item has a name and a price, and you can mark it as a Quick Pick with the star so it appears first at the gate.
- For all of your events: In your dashboard settings, add your standard concession items (for example, popcorn, water, spirit shirt) with a label and price, and star the ones you sell most often.
- For a single event: In the event's editor, add or adjust items just for that event using the concessions item list. Choose Add to Quick Picks on an item to star it.
When staff open concessions for an event, the app shows that event's items if any were set, otherwise your institution-wide list. Staff can also add a one-off item on the spot for the current session.
How do you sell at the gate?
- In the EventDay App, open the event and choose Concessions & merchandise.
- On the Sell tab, tap your Quick Pick items to build the order; tap again to add more of the same item. The running total updates as you go.
- To charge an amount that is not a saved item, switch to the Custom tab and enter the price on the keypad. You can also add a one-off item for the session with New item.
- Start the payment when the order is ready.
How do buyers pay?
Payment is taken through the card reader connected to the device:
- A card reader. Have the customer insert, tap, or swipe their card on the connected reader.
- Tap to Pay. If the device supports it, staff can accept contactless cards and phone wallets using the device itself, with no separate reader. (Tap to Pay lets the phone or tablet read the payment directly.)
While a payment is in progress, the app shows Waiting for payment and prompts you to insert, tap, or swipe, then confirms with a success screen when the charge goes through.
Where do concession sales appear?
Each completed sale is recorded against the event. Staff see a running tally of recent concession sales in the app during the event, and you can review the full list in your dashboard on the event's page, where concessions are listed after they are purchased alongside the amount and payment details.
