Connecting Stripe to Accept Payments

Every dollar you collect in Admittee — tickets, passes, registrations, rentals, concessions, contract payments, and donations — runs through Stripe and lands in your organization's bank account. Connecting Stripe is a one-time setup, and it's the step that turns on online sales and card payments at the gate.

You don't need a Stripe account to start. Admittee creates the payments account for your organization and handles the connection — no second bill, no keys or account IDs to copy over. And if your organization already has a Stripe account, you can sign in during setup and reuse the details Stripe has already verified. Either way, everything happens inside Admittee.

If your organization already uses Stripe

When you reach the Stripe form, sign in with the account you already have. Stripe will offer to reuse the business and identity information it has already verified, so instead of re-entering all of it and waiting on a fresh review, you confirm what's already there. This is usually a couple of minutes rather than a full setup.

Three things worth knowing:

  • Signing in doesn't give Admittee access to your existing account. Admittee still gets its own payments account for your Admittee activity. What carries over is your verified business information — not your payment history, customers, or balance.
  • Your bank account and public details are copied once, during setup. If you change them later, change them in both places.
  • Core business details stay linked. Your business type and company information stay in sync between the accounts, so updating one updates the other.

If you don't see the option to reuse an account, Stripe couldn't match your sign-in to one it can share from. Fill the form in fresh — nothing is lost, it just takes a few more minutes.

If your organization has never used Stripe

Nothing extra to do. Work through the form and Admittee sets everything up as you go. You won't have a separate Stripe login to manage afterward.

Before you start

  • You need Admin access. Only Admins can open Account activation and connect payments. If you don't see the tab, ask an Admin on your team to do this step, or have them change your role first.
  • Have these details handy. Stripe will ask for your organization's legal name and address, its tax ID, information about you as an authorized representative, and the bank account where you want payouts deposited. If you're signing in to an existing Stripe account, most of this will already be filled in.
  • Admittee payments are available for U.S. organizations today.

Connect Stripe

Everything happens in one place: SettingsAccount activation. The page is a checklist — each step opens when the step before it is done.

  1. Verify your email. Open the Verify your email step and click Send code. Enter the 6-digit code we email you. The step flips to Verified.
  2. Submit your organization for verification. Open the next step, confirm your name and role (for example, Athletic Director), and enter an email address on your organization's official domain. Click Submit for approval. Admittee reviews every organization to keep accounts secure and legitimate, and we email you when you're approved.
  3. Click Connect Stripe. Open the Accept payments step and click Connect Stripe. You don't have to wait for your organization to be approved — this step unlocks as soon as you've submitted for verification, so you can get payments set up while the review is in progress.
  4. Fill in the Stripe form. The form appears right inside Admittee. If you already have a Stripe account, sign in when prompted and reuse your existing details. Otherwise, work through the sections Stripe asks for — your organization, your identity as the representative, and your payout bank account. You can stop and come back; your progress is saved.
  5. Check the badge. When Stripe has everything it needs, the step shows Connected and the status reads "Your Stripe account is connected and ready to accept payments." If it shows Incomplete, Stripe is still waiting on something — see below.
  6. You're ready to go. The final step turns on once your organization is approved and Stripe is connected. From there you can publish events and start collecting.

If the step says "Incomplete"

Incomplete means the Stripe form was started but not finished, or Stripe came back asking for more. Open the Accept payments step again and finish the remaining fields. Common causes:

  • A required document (an ID for the representative, or proof of your bank account) hasn't been uploaded yet.
  • The bank account or routing number was entered incorrectly.
  • Stripe needs to confirm the representative's identity before it will release payouts.

Verification can take a little time on Stripe's side even after you've submitted everything. If the step stays Incomplete after you've filled in every field, reach out and we'll take a look with you.

After you're connected

  • Manage your account detailsSettingsStripe and BillingAccount. Because this shows bank and account details, you'll be asked to confirm it's you before anything sensitive appears.
  • See your payoutsSettingsStripe and BillingPayouts shows your balance, next payout, and full payout history. Payouts are transferred daily by default.
  • Decide who covers processing feesSettingsPayments & defaults. You can pass the fee to buyers, absorb it, or let buyers choose at checkout.
  • Take payments at the gate — once Stripe is connected, the Event Day app can sell tickets and concessions with tap to pay. If you want a dedicated card reader, browse them under SettingsShop hardware.

Common questions

Will we get a Stripe bill? No. Admittee's fees cover card processing, the platform, and support. See Admittee Pricing & Fees for the full breakdown.

Who at our school should do this? Whoever can speak for the organization and knows the bank details — usually a business manager, bookkeeper, or athletic director. If you already use Stripe, it also helps if this person can sign in to that account. They'll need Admin access in Admittee.

Do we have to connect Stripe to use Admittee? No. You can schedule facilities, build your calendar, and run free events without it. You'll need it as soon as you want to collect money.

Where do we track this activity? In Admittee. Payouts, transactions, refunds, and tax documents all live under Stripe and Billing and Reports. Admittee sales won't show up in a Stripe dashboard you already use, because they run through the payments account Admittee set up for you.

See Managing Finances & Payouts for payouts, tax documents, and revenue reporting, Admittee Pricing & Fees for the fee schedule, and User Roles & Permissions if you need to change who has Admin access.
